Subject: Redeployment options - [Your name], [Role]
Hi [Name], I understand my current role is [proposed to be disestablished / disestablished] from [date]. I would like to stay with [Company] if there is a suitable role. Please can you: 1. Send me a list of all current vacancies, and any roles being created in the new structure, across the whole organisation (including other sites and subsidiaries). 2. Let me know how I can apply, and whether redeployees are considered before external candidates. 3. Confirm whether any training or support would be offered if I move into a different role. I am particularly interested in roles like [role 1], [role 2] or similar. My relevant skills include [skill 1], [skill 2], [qualification]. I have attached an updated CV. Please also tell me what would happen to my redundancy compensation if I accepted a new role, or if I declined a role you consider suitable. Thank you, [Your name]
Tips
- Employers are expected to consider redeployment as an alternative to redundancy. Compensation may not be payable if you unreasonably refuse a suitable role offered in good faith, so ask what happens to your entitlements before you decline anything.
- Ask about vacancies early and again every week or two. New roles are often posted internally first.
- Ask whether a trial period applies in a new role, and check the details in the agreement. During a valid trial period you generally cannot raise an unjustified dismissal grievance.
- Do not reject an alternative role outright without understanding pay, hours and location. Ask for the offer in writing.
- Keep a copy of everything you send (sent-email folder, a screenshot or a photocopy) and save replies in one folder named with the date.
