Subject: Request for a named case manager - [Your name], client number [number]

Hi Work and Income, I am a client ([client number]) on [Jobseeker Support / other payment]. My situation includes [e.g. redundancy after X years, health condition, caring responsibilities, dealing with debt/housing]. Because my situation is complex, I'd like to be allocated a named case manager (or a small team) so that I don't have to explain it each time. Please let me know: 1. Who my case manager is and how to contact them (direct number or email). 2. What days and times are best for appointments. 3. Whether a Redeployment Support, Employment Broker or Housing Support officer can be assigned. I would also like my preference for [phone / MyMSD messages / email / text] noted on my file. I may need [interpreter / support person / accessibility needs]. Thank you, [Your name]

Tips

  • Case manager allocation depends on your situation and the service centre, so it may be a request rather than a right. It is still worth asking.
  • Ask specifically for your Redeployment Support (if your employer redundancy was large), a 'work broker' or a housing specialist.
  • Write down the name of everyone you talk to and the date.
  • Make sure your contact details on file are right so you do not miss messages. Missing appointments can affect payments.
  • If you are treated unfairly, you can give feedback or make a complaint (workandincome.govt.nz) and ask for a review.
